We will present the reach of social media dissemination of a culturally-adapted evidence-based Kid’s Healthy Eating Plate to Spanish-speaking Latinos. Using adaptation frameworks and protocols, as well as reach metrics, is essential to demonstrate cultural appropriateness and social media engagement. We demonstrate that culturally-adapted healthy eating guidelines for Spanish-speaking children were worldwide after paid social media promotion, which may help close the digital divide and promote health literacy in diverse populations.

This study focuses on the assessment and characterization of features found in popular diet and nutrition smartphone apps and provides some implications on the potential use of these apps as tech-based behavior change support systems within professional dietetic practices.

Have you also been thinking about how more inclusive gender identity and sexual orientation report can be translated into more passionate, informed and caring practice? If so, this webinar is for you. How can you, as a nutrition professional be an advocate for persons suffering from nutrition insecurity? This session will take a deep dive into leading with cultural humility and vulnerability to center the needs of our community members in nutrition education and recommendations. Dr. Wesley McWhorter will describe how colonialism, slavery, and racism shapes the ideal of healthy foods, nutrition research and recommendations. Attendees will learn to lead with cultural humility and challenge the Eurocentric world view that excludes food cultures from around the world and perpetuates systemic racism in our communities.

As part of the journal club series, this presentation will focus on the article titled: “WIC Participants’ Perspectives About Online Ordering and Technology in the WIC Program”. We know that WIC is a federal nutrition program that creates improvements in health and nutrition outcomes, and that WIC enhances health equity. However, just over half of eligible individuals participate in the WIC program. Technology enhancements, such as online shopping and other WIC modernization efforts have the potential to enhance the WIC experience and engage more individuals and families. This presentation will explore research into participants' perspectives on potential technological enhancements in WIC, as a part of user-centered design.

Since the high impact paper, Double Up Food Bucks Participation is Associated with Increased Fruit and Vegetable Consumption and Food Security Among Low-Income Adults, was published in JNEB several years ago, the body of research on fruit and vegetable incentives has grown substantially. In this webinar, the authors will explore the more recent body of research on this topic and our ongoing work aimed at determining program reach, efficacy, and accessibility of the Utah Double Up Food Bucks program.

This webinar presents the processes used to develop, implement, and evaluate the preschool curriculum component of the Food Resource Equity and Sustainability for Health (FRESH) study, which aimed to improve vegetable intake, food security, and body composition of Native American children and their families. The FRESH study used a community-based participatory research process that involved tribal leaders in every aspect of the research. The intervention results showed that vegetable intake significantly increased in intervention children compared to controls for squash (p = 0.0007) and beans (p=0.0002).

Our manuscript presents the effectiveness of a training program for health workers regarding infant feeding practices to reduce sugar consumption in children in south Brazil. A training session based on the Brazilian National Guidelines for Children was provided for the primary care workers. The results indicated that children attending intervention health centers had a 27% reduced risk of sugar introduction before 4 months of age and lower added sugars consumption at 3 years of age.
